The wristwatch showcased in today's offering likely needs no introduction... Named the Reverso because of the way the case swivels to expose either the dial or the case, the watch's innovation and design have landed it among collectors as one of the most recognizable wristwatches Jaeger-LeCoultre has ever made.
Born from the need for a watch rugged enough to survive the rigors of a polo match without damage, the Reverso embodies form in the service of function. It features a very clever "gadrooned" case, suggestive of the Art Deco style so popular during the 1930's.
Here are some of the watch's features:
- Very elegant case with simple, sophisticated, and harmonious proportions, embodying a revival of classic and refined Art Deco style
- The case swivels to reveal a polished back that may be personalized with a timeless engraving
- Pleasing dial with a window for the date at 6
- Solid 18K gold construction
- Jaeger-LeCoultre quartz movement
Please note that we suspect the swiveling watch head may have been previously swapped at some point with one from another Reverso as from our experience this reference number normally came with an automatic movement rather than the quartz JLC movement found in this watch. That said, all the parts are 100% JLC down to the case, dial, hands, movement, band and buckle.
Our Master Watchmaker has just fully serviced the watch (a $295 value).
It presents as just short of mint with light signs of polishing to the back. On the wrist it presents as mint. Accompanying it are its JLC papers and booklets.
