Omega De Ville Prestige Mens Chronometer Dress Watch with Papers - Stainless Steel

Omega

Item No. 10659

Omega's De Ville Prestige has long been one of the brand's very fine traditional dress watches, and this particular version shows just how attractive a classic, uncomplicated design can be.

Living up to its name as the "Prestige" model, it features a case that epitomizes class and timelessness, a handsome silver dial, and an officially certified chronometer Omega movement.

When the Emmy-winning drama West Wing was on the air, Martin Sheen wore the 18K gold cased version of this watch in his acclaimed role as President of the United States. Considering how carefully the character of President Bartlet was developed, it is a fitting choice. The watch looked perfectly at home on the wrist of the fictional president, and it is easy to see why. This stainless steel version has the same classic styling, with a versatility that makes it equally appropriate for daily wear or more formal occasions.

Omega gave this De Ville Prestige a wonderfully handsome look, combining the elegance of a traditional dress watch with enough character to make it stand out. Its polished stainless steel case has a beautifully rounded bezel, graceful lugs, and classic proportions that look just as good today as when the watch was made. Paired with a black leather strap, it has a particularly sharp, dressy appearance.

Its silver dial has gravitas and reminds us of certain Patek dials. It combines applied Arabic numerals with slender baton markers and dauphine hands, creating a clean presentation.

Its styling is a large part of the appeal. While Omega is perhaps best known for its Speedmaster and Seamaster sports watches, the De Ville collection represents another side of the company, one devoted to more traditional, refined timepieces. The Prestige is an especially nice expression of that heritage.

Beyond its appearance, this is a true chronometer, not simply a fashionable watch with an Omega name on the dial. Inside is Omega's excellent caliber 1120 automatic movement, a 23-jewel mechanism independently certified for its precision.

Based on the well-regarded ETA 2892-A2 architecture and finished to Omega's specifications, it is a fine, dependable movement that also allows the case to retain its elegant proportions. It is one of the appealing things about this generation of Prestige: an attractive traditional dress watch backed by the mechanical quality for which Omega is respected.

Today's auction showcases this prime example of one of Omega's top-tier dress watches with original certificate card.

It is all original and in beautiful original condition. It presents as a 9.6 out of 10.

Its case presents as mint. Its silver dial is like new.
