Many collectors are not especially acquainted with watches from Rolex's Tudor brand, creations which have become increasingly more collectible. Watches in the Tudor line, apart from the fact that they utilize ebauche movements, are similar to those of Rolex in design and construction.
When Rolex launched the Tudor brand in 1945, they strongly intended that the public perception of its quality had to equal that of Rolex. To achieve this lofty aim, until the mid-1990's, Tudor watches featured Rolex cases and crowns, and, until 1971, Rolex bracelets.
Today's offering features this discontinued Certified Pre-Owned Tudor Chronautic chronograph, one of our favorite early Tudor revival chronograph watches.
It has a classic silver dial with thick Oyster case.
Its bezel was patterned after the Rolex Daytona, the company's famous chronograph model. Possessing the same features and conception with a different movement and pusher, these chronographs earned a name for themselves as in essence a more affordable version of its sister watch.
It is in beautiful condition. The case is just short of mint with light signs of previous polishing to the case back and one prick on the side of the underside. On the wrist it presents as gorgeous mint. Our photos couldn't begin to do it justice.
Its dial is gorgeous mint as is its sapphire crystal.
A Master Watchmaker has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components, reassembling and lubricating the movement, replacing all of the waterproofing seals with new Tudor/Rolex gaskets, and timing testing and regulation (a $495 value).
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
