1960's Omega Seamaster De Ville Vintage Mens Cal. 560 Solid 14K Gold & Steel Watch - Rare Only 3000 Made

Omega

Item No. 10391

Today's offering showcases this rare, classic and pleasing Seamaster De Ville with rare caliber 560 movement of which only 3,000 examples were made.

**Kindly note that the protective sticker is still on its brand new crystal and was when it was photographed**

These movements were split across nine models, making each in effect a "limited edition." We specialize in these caliber 560 watches, and have owned just over four dozen of them. This one happens to be exactly our 50th - and it is the first we have ever owned of this reference, giving you an idea of its rarity.

The 560 was a movement made only for the U.S. market to cut down on import tariffs.

The Seamaster De Ville, showcasing both refinement and high function, was the most important Omega line from a sales perspective from the latter part of the 1960's into the 1970's. It has a monocoque - or one piece - case which insured water resistance and slim, elegant profile. The case when new achieved high water resistance ratings by not having a separate case back.

This pleasing example is encased in stainless steel and solid 14K gold. It has all of its original main parts, save the later period Omega winding crown.

Its case is very good condition. It previously had a metal bracelet installed which wore the inside of the lugs a bit and put a couple of small marks on the back - otherwise it is in excellent condition with light wear.

Its silver dial, which has fantastic vintage styled faceted dimensional gold markers, was restored in vintage times. Please inquire if you would like a new restoration done.

One of our Master Watchmakers has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part; replacing any overly worn components with new genuine Omega parts including: a new detent, both parts of the stem, a new crown installing a new mainspring; installing a new crystal, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $995 value).

It is running very strong and true, keeping time essentially on par with a new Omega in our testing recording position.

For the finishing touch, we have equipped it with a vintage styled Connoisseur of Time leather strap and aftermarket Omega style buckle making it ready for immediate enjoyment.

Note: Published examples of similar watches can be found in Marco Richon's work Omega: A Journey Through Time, 2007, pg. 403.
